Publication Ethics Statement

Policies for authors

Authors only submit their own original research, which has not been previously published in any other journal. Authors may not submit work that is currently under consideration for publication in any other journal. Authors are not allowed to submit work that has any part generated by AI or AI-related software. Submission to UTMJ means that authors have agreed to provide a full transfer of copyright to UTMJ if the paper is published. Submitted work must include a bibliography listing relevant references.

While UTMJ is primarily a digital publication, we produce limited print editions for exhibition and dissemination. Please note that by submitting a manuscript, authors agree to transfer all copyright to UTMJ.

Intellectual property

Before publication, all authors are required to attest that they own the intellectual property represented in the article. All authors will be contacted, and the paper will not be considered until each author has signed our consent-to-publish form. If a paper includes data, it is expected that the source of the data is explained in the paper.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. Clear-cut cases of plagiarized content will lead to prompt rejection; if the paper has been published, it will be retracted and replaced online by a notice of retraction. Further actions may follow, including contacting the author's institution. No part of the paper is allowed to be written or created by AI or AI-related Software. Papers will be retracted if a violation is found.

Authorship

All named authors must have significantly contributed to the work. Conversely, all researchers who have significantly contributed to the work should be named as authors.

The submitting author is required to attest that all coauthors have correctly and accurately represented themselves and their own identities. Any changes to the list of authors post-submission must comply with this guideline.

Each author must be directly aware that the submission is being made in their name. Submission to UTMJ implies that all authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

The authors listed in the published paper will be those shown in the last version uploaded before acceptance. Requests to add authors not listed in the accepted version are not allowed.

Conflicts of interest

Financial support: In their submitted article, authors should acknowledge financial support when appropriate, clearly indicating the organizations that funded the research and the role, if any, of the funders in the research.

Post-publication corrections

If an author discovers a significant error in their published work, it is the author's responsibility to notify the journal. The Editorial Board or the managing editor may request the author to provide a correction to be published by the journal.

Rights after publication

Submission to UTMJ means that authors have agreed to provide a full transfer of copyright to UTMJ. Authors are welcome to post papers in arXiv before submitting them to UTMJ. UTMJ allows authors to deposit the last version of their manuscript after peer review (the “author’s accepted manuscript”) to the arXiv, other preprint servers, or in a subject or institutional repository.

We do ask authors that, upon publication, they add a link to the preprint archive’s version, directing prospective readers to the published article on the journal’s website. As a free of charge and open-access journal, UTMJ allows authors to place this PDF file on their home page or open archives. However, instead of posting the PDF file of their papers, UTMJ recommends that authors provide the link to the journal’s copy to promote the journal. Authors are allowed to send the PDF file of their papers to prospective readers.
