About Us and Our Philosophy

About Us

The University of Tennessee Mathematical Journal (UTMJ) is a peer-reviewed, electronic research publication supported by the University of Tennessee (UT) and its Department of Mathematics. As a Diamond Open Access journal, UTMJ charges no author fees and provides immediate, free access to its entire archive. Dedicated to the advancement of mathematical research and education, the journal is committed to upholding the highest scholarly and ethical standards. While UTMJ is primarily a digital publication, we produce limited print editions for archival display and dissemination.

Our Philosophy

As a non-profit, Diamond Open Access publication, UTMJ is dedicated to the global advancement of mathematical research and education. Our mission is to foster scholarly growth by providing a high-caliber platform accessible to all, free of financial barriers.

Mathematics thrives when ideas flow across boundaries. At UTMJ, our philosophy is rooted in interdisciplinary legibility. We believe that a profound result is most impactful when its significance is understood by the wider community. Consequently, we champion works that combine deep technical innovation with a transparent, motivating narrative - ensuring that every breakthrough serves as a catalyst for future discovery across the entire mathematical landscape.

The UTMJ Editorial Board comprises dedicated University of Tennessee mathematics professors who volunteer their expertise to uphold the highest scholarly and ethical standards. We prioritize expert insight and integrity throughout our decision-making process. As an open-access resource, UTMJ is committed to maintaining its standing as a premier peer-reviewed publication; to that end, we deeply value the continued support and contributions of the global mathematics community.
