Abstract

This thesis is a study made on economic and social development through policy and planning at the community level. The contents present the preconditioning factors required for economic and social development. It gives a general idea of how effective a community can develop in the economic and social movements. The thesis is intended to formulate and analyze the ways and means of achieving economic and social development. Such measures are to be verified at the given condition and at a given time. The limitation of time and finance for the research of this thesis has imposed the limitation on the scope of study. A case study on Morristown is chosen to study all the related efforts of the community in economic and social development. The city governmental functions are discussed very closely indicating all the developmental programs related to the field of research. The description of Morristown community in general with the data presented with the Appendix will provide the source for further study in the future in the related fields of economic and social development,” are clearly explained in a Chapter I in the section of “Relative Opportunities for Economic and Social Development in the Developed and Underdeveloped Areas” of the world.
