Abstract
The United States of America has exerted a potent influence upon the development of international law. The American people, though not essentially interested in international law, have developed a multiplicity of laws within the nation. The United States has become a nation of laws, law breakers, and jingoists who claim respect for the law, but break them at will. The American citizen is incensed with a spirit of getting by the law and at heart laughs at the thousands of laws the common officer is supposed to know and enforce today.
