Abstract
A model has been developed in order to explain the discrepancy between Im's theoretical prediction of particle size distribution and that obtained experimentally at The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI), Tullahoma, Tennessee, for particulate emissions from a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) system.
Agglomeration by thermophoresis acting between different sized particles has been employed to explain this discrepancy. The model explains successfully a significant portion of this discrepancy in terms of lower mass fraction of fine particles present in the measured particle size distribution as postulated.
