Abstract
Investigations advancing the methodologies for implementation of artificial intelligence to document retrieval, applied to aerospace systems, are consummated with this thesis. The result is a unified approach to software implementation of an intelligent hypertext manual using hypertext programs and expert system shells. The idea behind the intelligent hypertext manual, its development and architecture are discussed. This thesis develops standard principles and rules for hypertext document construction, and knowledge implementation. The research then focuses on, in a general sense, forming a standard method to link hypertext software and expert system shells. A specific application of the methodologies originated into a prototype intelligent hypertext manual is discussed. This prototype is for reference documents used in conjunction with the size determination of wind tunnel models. This thesis presents hardware and software recommendations for implementing a turn-key intelligent hypertext manual.
