Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions and understandings of public high school principals about the Tennessee School Improvement Planning Process. The study was focused around the following three research questions which were answered through responses to a survey questionnaire mailed to a population of 288 public high school principals in the state of Tennessee: 1. What are the perceptions of Tennessee public high school principals of the Tennessee School Improvement Planning Process (TSIPP)? 2. What are Tennessee public high school principals' understanding of the TSIPP? 3. Do the principals' perceptions and understandings of the TSIPP differ on the basis of gender, administrative tenure, school size and location?
