Abstract
The aim of this project is to create an occupancy monitoring device that tracks the number of people in any given space to ensure safety, according to fire and other safety protocols. Utilizing an Arduino Uno system, as well as ultrasonic sensors, the technology detects the presence of an object with either the designated entry or exit sensor and correlates this detection with the subsequent feedback provided by a buzzer, LED indicators, and a digit display. The design of this device is based on accessibility, with visual and auditory cues to serve a wide range of users. Furthermore, the device is optimal for mobility in use, as it operates with a 9V battery power source. Testing for this device realized various stages, with both small and large-scale tests, as well as varied speeds to ensure that detection of all movement would register with the ultrasonic sensors. As the device functions within these limits, the technology shows great promise with both its intended purpose as well as future involvement in more advanced products.
