Volume 12, Issue 1 (2025)

Introduction

I am very pleased to present the first issue of Volume 12 of GAMUT: The Online Journal of the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic. This issue currently includes a fascinating theoretical proposal on the naming of small intervals, a substantial contribution to our understanding of nineteenth-century form in the music of Dvořàk, and a detailed study of structural models for the analysis of the relationships between text and music in Anglo-American popular song. I would like to thank all the members of the Publications Committee for their advice and support in bringing this volume to publication. In particular, I recognize the great work done by Scott Hanenberg, William O'Hara, Keith Salley, and Daniel Zimmerman to support GAMUT's mission over the past two years. Best wishes and happy reading,
