Abstract
The writer describes a service learning project with a global focus at Colorado State University. She reveals that undergraduate students, in collaboration with the nonprofit Orchestra Company, prepared a grant proposal addressing music education needs of youth in South Africa. She describes program benefits for youth and the learning process and outcomes for students. She then outlines aspects of service learning as pedagogy, factors contributing to successful project implementation, and instructional challenges.
