Abstract

This study explores the premise that there exists a human need for diversity which can and should be accommo- dated in the built environment, especially within the pub- lic realm. Further, the specific types of diversity required to sustain a community within an urban setting are explored as well.

These issues will be investigated through the development of an educational facility intended to serve as both a magnet school for the arts and a community center.
