Abstract

The material contained herein is a continuation of the study of the marketing of sweet potatoes in Tennessee begun by the Experiment Station Staff of the Department of Agricultural Economics in the fall of 1929, A previous report. Preliminary Report on Marketing Tennessee Sweet Potatoes, was written in the spring and summer of 1930, by Mr, B. F. Lucas, under the supervision of C. E. Allred and S. W. Atkins of this department, and used by him to fulfill thesis requirements for a Master's degree. That report consisted largely of such phases as trends in acreage, production and yields in Tennessee and the United States; the consumption of sweet potatoes; market preferences; and the relative position of Tennessee shippers in the market. This report places emphasis on cooperative marketing in Tennessee, although treating such phases as prices, marketing functions, and the channels of marketing.
