Abstract
It is the purpose of this study: (1) to determine the present dairy herd replacement methods used and attitudes toward purchasing replacement animals in the study area, (2) to determine the extent by which factors such labor supply, bulk tank capacity, barn space, feed supply and capital availability would limit expansion of dairy herd if replacement animals were purchased, and (3) to estimate the effect on net farm income if replacement animals were produced on a contract basis rather than raised by the dairyman.
