Abstract
This project on the German-speaking peoples in Tennessee from Colonial times to the First World War consists of three chapters and an appendix. The introduction discusses the purpose of the bibliography, its methodology, some problems encountered in research, and finally the many avenues of investigation, such as immigration history, Indian history and genealogy, which an individual would have to pursue if he wished to treat the subject thoroughly. A brief history of the Germans in Tennessee, which will provide a frame of reference for the bibliographical entries, follows. Chapter IV, the bibliography proper, includes primary sources, both published and unpublished, and all secondary materials which I could find related to the subject.
