Abstract
This thesis is composed of stories conceived, written, and revised while the author was a master's candidate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Among other subjects, these stories consider obsession, apathy, and both the monotony and sickness inherent in everyday life. Preceding these stories is a brief introduction in which the author discusses some of her thoughts on the art of writing, her aesthetic principles, as well as the themes present in her stories.
