Abstract
The purpose of this thesis was twofold: First, to explore the history, development, and present status of organizational television and, second, to demonstrate the procedure for producing a video taped presentation for organizational use.
Organizational television is a rapidly growing segment of the telecommunications industry. In fact, the amount of programming pro duced for non-broadcast uses far outpaces that produced for over-the-air broadcast. Major technological breakthroughs in the 1970s made video more convenient and less expensive to use. There is a growing audience for corporate video communications comprised of young employees raised in a television-oriented society. Although training is still a major reason for using video, many companies use it for much more.
The video taped presentation produced as part of the thesis was commissioned by Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC). It was produced for in-house viewing by KCDC clients to explain the types of housing programs available. The production process is detailed and a developmental outline for producing similar projects is presented.
