Abstract
Aircraft and airport related noise are the most pervasive of the environmental effects of airports and the most difficult to resolve. Airport related noise is one of the primary factors in determining the compatibility of land use in the airport environs. The Airport Noise Control and Land Use Compatibility (ANCLUC) planning program was developed to address the noise and land use compatibility problems that result from airport operations.
The development of the ANCLUC planning program and the definition of the airport noise problem is reviewed in Chapter I. Chapter II examines the noise problem experienced at Orlando International Airport and the establishment of an ANCLUC planning program to address that problem.
The major components of the ANCLUC program in theory and as executed at Orlando International Airport are examined in Chapters III through VII with an emphasis on identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the programs. Chapter VIII discusses recommended improvements to the process.
