Abstract

This project examined perceptions of both planners and citizens related to Knoxville's central business district. The study used a variety of nonparametric statistics in combination with a "sketch map" format to conduct an inter-group comparison.

The primary finding was that information content seemed to be the crucial factor in explaining-group differences and similarities. Direct relationships were tentatively explored and these observations are expanded in a separate publication, Towards A Livable Downtown (Weeks, I982).
