Abstract

The problem of two, identical, collinear, half-wave dipoles is solved using an integral equation technique. An approximation of the current distribution on the antennas is made using three trigonometric terms. Two terms describe the symmetric portion of the current and one term describes the asymmetric portion of the current. Two simultaneous integral equations are then solved giving the amplitudes of the trigonometric terms. Using this information a scheme is presented for the determination of the self and mutual impedances of the antennas. Three different thicknesses of antennas are considered. Results from all three cases are shown to agree favorably with results obtained using other available techniques.
