Abstract
It is the plan of the University of Tennessee to have all electric wires on the Hill placed underground. A new power house is needed badly at present, With these two things in view I respectfully sub= mit the following as plans and specifications for the proposed underground system and switch board location.
The proposed power house is to be located on the north-west side of Estabrook Hall; the front facing the present road and in line with the front of Estabrook Hall. It will not be attached to the present building. The plans show the building to be about 58'x100' single story.
The proposed underground conduit system starts at the new power house and follows the steam line to the top of the Hill; lying to the right of the steam line about 18”. Iaterials are token off at Barbara Blount Hall to serve Morrill Hall, Y.M.C.A. Barbara Blount Hall,Carrick Hall, and the Presidents house. Another laterial is taken off at South College to feed Science Hall, Humes Hall, and South College. The main line of conduit makes a square turn about 50' beyond the north corner of South College and runs along the out side of Ayers Hall to the center of the building where the main line conduit ends. A secondary feed line continues from this point to the Library.
There are four main distribution points. These being located in Barbara Blount, Morrill Hell, Science Hall, and Ayres Hall. Barbara Blount, Carrick Hall, and the Presidents house are supplied from the one at Barbara Blount Hall; Morrill Hall, and the Y.M.C.A., from the one at Morrill Hall; Science Hall, Humes Hall, and South College from the one at Science Hall; Ayre Hall, Reese Hall and Library from the one at Ayres Hall, Primary lines of 2300 volts are run to these points of distribution where the voltage is stepped down to 110 volts.
