Abstract
Before a gas meter can be installed it is necessary to know what size to put in. In restaurants, cooking houses, bakeries and other places where a good deal of gas is used and the demand is variable for different hours of the day, it is necessary to know what the maximum demand will be so that a meter with the right capacity can be used without being over taxed or oversized. For this purpose a gas demand meter is installed and let run for one week so as to get the maximum demand for seven days. It probably would not give the maximum demand if let run for any length of time less than that as any one day in the week might contain the maximum demand, and this one particular day is not known until the demand meter has been set for one week.
