Abstract

The subject of moisture adsorption of fibers is a very important one because of its practical and theoretical value.

In connection with a recent smoke survey, it was learned that it would be very difficult the determine the most suitable fiber for filtering dust out of the air because of the wide variation of moisture in fibers.

The object of this investigation is therefore to determine the quantity of moisture that various fibers will actually adsorb, and to determine the time required to remove this moisture to a constant weight by passing dry air over the fiber at a definite temperature and rate of flow.
