Abstract

At the present time there are plans under way to attempt locate the government armour plate plants near Knoxville Tenn. In the event that the plant does locate here the site will be about four miles above the present intake of the city water works pumping station. The waste products of the plant will then make it necessary to move the intake.

It then becomes a question whether it will be cheaper to move the intake un the river above the proposed site or whether a mountain supply may be obtained cheaper.

It is not the object of this discussion to determine which of the above propositions will be the cheaper but to select the most favorable mountain supply: to design the works complete to & connection to the present city mains: to estimate the cost of such a plant and the probable operating and maintenance expense.
