Abstract
This study was initiated to find a replacement for the plaster Risser jacket used in postoperative scoliosis treatment. Experimental results strongly support the use of thermal plastic materials used in the construction of TLSO jackets. The thermal plastic TLSO jackets are capable of superior vertebra rotational restraint when compared to the plaster Risser jacket. Analytical results show that the thermal plastic material is not overstressed and is capable of handling the loading induced by the human body.
