Abstract

A user interactive digitizing program to meet the needs of the naive, casual user was developed. The program provides the user the basic services needed to manipulate graphics primitives using the software package GRAPAC II by the Japan Radio Corporation (uses Core Standard Graphics). It is intended to be used by both naive and expert users but is directed toward the naive users. Human factors, aids for novice users and various techniques for selection, positioning, and text entry are introduced. A summary of the techniques and aids used in the program is given. Recommendations for further expansion to the user interface plus an evaluation of the interface are provided.
