Abstract
This thesis was written from the experience gained on digital processing. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the effects of different windows on transient data. Several common windows are used to reduce the leakage effects in the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) of data acquisition. These windows have been investigated in detail and their effect on the Fourier spectrum of digital data is well known. However, these windows are not all the possible windows and may not be the most effective window for transient data. Several different exponential windows were analyzed to determine their effects on the DFT of transient data, especially in the presence of noise.
