Abstract
This thesis provides a series of test techniques applicable to military display systems. It is intended for use by test pilots of military aircraft who are involved in testing new displays integrated into older cockpits. The areas of mechanical attributes, electro-optical properties, color properties, information formats, display integration and mission suitability are included in this thesis. The techniques herein are intended to be simple and require as little instrumentation as practical. The tests described should be performed on production aircraft under realistic mission conditions. Some guidelines for evaluation of display characteristics are included. Also included are brief discussions of the concepts of luminance, illuminance and the Commission Internationale I'Eclairage color systems.
