Abstract
Theory has been developed to describe the positions of soft X-ray standing waves within a Layered Synthetic Microstructure (LSM) about the first order Bragg reflection peak. Computer programs were developed to show the shape of the standing waves and to predict the relative fluorescence from the LSM. As the wavelength of the incident light is increased, the standing waves shift toward the top of the multilayer. Standing waves were created within a Si/Mo LSM, while Si fluorescence was monitored. Soft X-ray standing wave experiments for BC/W and B4C/Ni LSMs were modeled.
