Abstract

In this paper, the viewpoints of five health education teachers are used to determine the manner in which sex and sexuality are taught in inner city Knox County Middle Schools. Educators were interviewed and recorded. Their answers were compared and contrasted. These data were analyzed in relationship to what the literature states as effective in preventing adolescent pregnancy. Inconsistencies between the stated objectives of this given program and the implementation by the health teachers were found. Recommendations are discussed to remedy the found discrepancies.
