Abstract

Practitioner ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues both inside and outside of the institution is a critical function of creating and sustaining transfer student programs and services. This study will contribute understanding to the practice of collaboration in transfer student work from the four-year institution perspective. Interviews and documents from practitioners engaged in transfer student work at two institutions will be analyzed using qualitative methods and an Activity Systems Analysis (ASA) framework. This approach will enable practitioners the ability to understand the individual and social interactions of these collaborations in greater detail. A deeper understanding of the practitioner perspective of transfer student work will help institutions in the execution of the transfer student experience.
