Abstract
Line strengths and widths of the P(2), P(3), P(7), P(18), and P(22) lines in the fundamental band of carbon monoxide broadened by nitrogen have been measured at temperatures in the range 300 to 600 K using a high resolution infrared (IR) tunable diode laser spectrometer. Half-widths of the P(2), P(3), P(7), and P(12) lines broadened by carbon dioxide, and the P(2), P(3), and P(7) lines broadened by water vapor were measured in the same temperature range. Broadening theory was applied to the nitrogen and carbon dioxide broadening cases and compared to the experimental values. In addition, temperature and concentration determinations have been made in the combustion gases of a flat flame burner operating at temperatures in the range 1,800 to 1,900 K using tunable diode laser spectroscopic data.
