Oedipus Rex : staging a production of a Greek fifth century B.C. play in the twentieth century

The purpose of this project was to direct a modern production of a Greek classical play, Oedipus Rex, using information on Greek play production of the fifth century B.C. The idea behind the project was to apply the knowledge of the ancient practice to a modern production making the performance interesting, alive, and exciting for a modern audience while using Greek motifs. The combination of modern and classical ideas was to create a production that would be more than a "museum piece." The thesis discusses Greek fifth century theatre practice and its influence on set design, costume, dance-movement, and acting style in a modern production.
