Rural leadership in Roane county, Tennessee
This study has for its central purpose the determination of existing conditions in regard to rural leadership in Roane County characteristics or traits conducive to leadership; and finally an attempt to devise a constructive program for development of future rural leaders.
More specifically, this study attempts to answer such questions about leaders, and leadership among rural folk, as:
1. Reasons why the individual assumed the role of leader.
2. Factors that have proven most helpful to leaders in their roles as leaders.
3. Desirable traits or characteristics of leaders.
4. Difficulties encountered by leaders, and how they were met.
5. Extent to which present leaders feel that leadership can be developed.
6. Suggestions by leaders for improving the local leadership situation in the future.
It is hoped that the study may assist in the selection and developing of local leaders to facilitate the administration of programs of local interest and economic value. It is also hoped that the study will increase the small amount of available information about leadership problems in the State.
