Tennessee Grade A milk producers, present and potential
This thesis was concerned only with Grade A milk production in Tennessee. The specific factors studied were characteristics of the Grade A dairyman in each major milk market area, the operational methods of the producer in each area, and the operational plans of the producer in each area.
By studying the data collected from these producers learned about the individual, his practices and intentions, and the much was factors affecting these variables. This, in turn, should enable better projections to be made concerning future numbers of producers, producer characteristics, milk supply, and prices.
The purposes of this study were:
(1) To describe the changes which have taken place in the dairy industry since 1956 and indicate if possible, the factors related to these changes.
(2) To describe the current Grade A producers and milk supply.
(3) To compare differences in characteristics of producers in various regions within the state.
(4) To project future number of producers size of producers. and milk supply.
