Abstract

Face flies were contaminated externally with Moraxella bovis. The maximum period of recovery of M. bovis from the flies was eight hours. Exposure to high humidity lengthened the time at which M. bovis was isolated from contaminated flies. Exposure to ultraviolet light reduced the amounts of M. bovis recovered from flies. M. bovis was found in the crops of face flies that were contaminated with a liquid layer of M. bovis and saline.
