Sensor Technologies for Nuclear Physics Applications
This work describes the testing and implementation of background monitoring devicesfor experiments in nuclear physics using a small single-board computer and locallyhosted servers for live updates. Two different experiments benefit from this constantenvironmental monitoring: the PROSPECT reactor antineutrino experiment and underwatergamma detector submarine designed to closely monitor underwater fuel element activities. For the PROSPECT experiment, magnetic fields are important part of our backgroundcharacterization as the magnetic fields can directly influence the energy measurement. Thisstudy presents the characterization and monitoring of stray magnetic fields using triple axismagnetometers near the detector. In the underwater gamma detector, it is important to monitor the temperature andhumidity inside the submarine to detect any potential leaks that could damage the submergedelectronics
