Abstract

Cotton, silk, and rayon have been known and have been widely used in India for many years. Recently nylon has come into great use although very little is manufactured in India at present. Due to the tropical climate of India, there are certain factors which influence the wearability of fabrics. Since cotton, silk, rayon, and nylon are four of the most commonly used fabrics in India, it is not only interesting but also of practical use, to make a study of the effects of the influencing factors on these fabrics. Fabrics to be satisfactory should be colorfast and durable to light and be able to withstand the effects of perspiration, antiperspirants, and laundering.
