Abstract

A double carbon button microphone of the Western Electric make is used for the initial pick up of the sound wave. Because of the excessive noise of the location, including noises from ventilating fans, breathing, etc.,the microphone has = relatively high resistance, equal to approximately forty miles of tele phone line, because of this high resistance only the sounds of greater volume are picked up and amplified.
