A Test of a Vertical Turbine and Its Penstock

The purpose of this thesis is:

First, to make a complete test of a 14 horsepower vertical water turbine.

Second, to determine the losses in the penstock of the turbine. This is a separate part in itself, but the results are used in computing the results of the first part.

Third, as a separate and distinct test to measure the surges in the penstock and its period of water hammer end compare the experimental results with results obtained by calculation.
