Abstract

Distributed systems are needed to allow users to access data on remote machines. This project modified the current single computer version of MUMPS and created the network software necessary to implement a distributred MUMPS database system.

The above implementation allows separate MUMPS sites running under the UNIX operating system to be able to communicate and exchange data. The MUMPS distributed database system provides a mechanism to store data on many machines and to reference the data from any machine in the distributed system.
