Abstract
The herpes simplex virus (HSV) and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are two prime targets for developing new effective antiviral drugs. A synthetic route was developed for preparing two nucleotide analogs, 3a and 3b, needed for the biochemical studies of HSV infections. Another synthetic route for the preparation of a prospective anti-HTV lypophilic D4T nucleotide analog, 7, was also developed.
