Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the experiences and perceptions of high school principals who have implemented the year round schedule. The study was focused around the following two research questions which were answered through responses to a questionnaire mailed to a population of 136 year round high school principals from across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Guam: 1. What are the principals' experiences and perceptions of the implementation and effectiveness of their year round schedule? 2. Do principals' experiences and perceptions of the implementation process and assessment methods, problems since implementation, and motivation to adopt the year round schedule differ according to the size of school, type of school community, type of school, and type of year round calendar?
