William Godwin’s Correspondence on Proof Corrections to St. Leon

Even though the three modern editions of William Godwin's St. Leon use the 1831 fourth edition as the copy text, that edition published in Bentley’s Standard Novels does not completely reflect Godwin's final intentions. Godwin's correspondence shows that several errors that he corrected in the page proofs were not corrected in the final published edition.
