The United States has had armed forces on the Korean peninsula since the conclusion of World War n. The relationship between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea at this time, however, is becoming critical. Anti-Americanism is becoming more popular among many groups, college students in particular, and the American military is taking steps to accommodate new demands from the Korean government and Korean people.
The purpose of this project is to compare nineteen life interviews of Korean citizens and American soldiers stationed in Korea with the little ----- research in print. The project will illustrate a more complete view of USFK(United States Forces Korea)-ROK relations by revealing individual opinions on both sides of the relationship. It will also reveal what must be done to assure cooperation and efficiency in the future if U.S. troops are to remain in South Korea.
