Abstract

Those involved with facilitating or moderating computer conferences face a number of special challenges that are usually not present in more traditional settings, where collaborative learning is often absent. Such challenges center around encouraging learner participation and maintaining viable discussions during the "electronic classroom" experiences. This chapter describes some of the strategies and techniques for overcoming such challenges.
