Input/output and floating-point arithmetic package
The purpose of this thesis is to develop an I/O and Floating-Point Arithmetic package for an 8o8o microcomputer with the CP/M operating system, used at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
PL/M is a programming language used in a wide variety of systems and applications work with microcomputers. But the PL/M language has no I/o facilities for use with CP/M; thus it cannot just write out a number, or read one in, and in particular has no decimal-to-binary capability. Besides that, the floating-point representation, which is extremely important when a large range of numbers is to be represented in microcomputers, is not implemented in the hardware.
This project was designed to be called by PL/M or assembly programs to make communicating with humans easier.
The I/0 and Floating-Point Arithmetic programs, written in PL/M and assembly languages, will be made available through CP/M User's Group.
