Abstract

Some aspects of the human interface of a graphics editor - MAKER3B, which is a three-dimensional interactive graphics package, have been studied in this thesis. Through careful study of the matrix multiplications used, the speed of transformation in the system has been significantly improved. Two additional input methods have been added to the system. They are rotary knobs and the graphics tablet. Through the test on a group of users, it has been proved that the graphics tablet input method is the most useful of the three input techniques the author studied in this thesis. Also, an additional subroutine called AXLE has been added to the system. It enables the user to set an arbitrarily oriented coordinate axis and allows the user to rotate the object in the new coordinate system. In the whole work, some feedback information has been added to the system according to the users' needs.
