Arriving at a central image for a lighting design : a design for A Streetcar Named Desire
The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the process involved in arriving at a central image for lighting design. The central image is the keystone on which the designer will build his design. The production of A Streetcar Named Desire as staged at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is used as an example to help eliminate the constant use of generalities in the discussion of the process. The steps involved in finding an image are then applied to the script of A Streetcar Named Desire. A light plot for the production is also included to show what final decisions were made for the production concerning the lighting design.
