Abstract

This paper is a study of the properties of a special class of matrices called circulants. Four types of circulants will be investigated : regular, symmetric regular, symmetric, and skew circulants.

Chapter 1 introduces and discusses regular circulants.

Chapter 2 deals primarily with the properties of symmetric regular circulants. Apart from that, we will briefly discuss the characterizations of regular circulants as other types of matrices such as toeplitz and normal matrices.

Chapter 3 investigates the properties of symmetric circulants, and skew circulants will be dealt with briefly in Chapter 4.
