Abstract

A method of calibrating and using a five orifice conical pressure probe to obtain high quality flow data at relatively high flow angles has been developed, A numerical search algorithm is used to search a probe calibration database generated in a known flow field. Probes which might be considered unusable because of nonlinearities in the calibration variables can be used with a high degree of confidence. Comparisons are made with current calibration/application techniques to illustrate improvements that can be expected in data quality.
